The cinema-camera trap: beautiful R3D does not fix bad dialogue
A premium picture with unusable speech is still an unusable film.
What KOMODO records
KOMODO supports 24-bit, 48 kHz audio and provides a 3.5 mm audio input alongside its internal microphones. The existence of an input is not the same as a production-sound strategy.
Professional priorities
- Microphone proximity before brand prestige.
- Headphone monitoring during the actual take.
- Redundancy where the production risk justifies it.
- Room tone and wild lines before leaving the location.
- Consistent naming and sync information for post.
- Control clothing noise, HVAC, refrigerators, generators, traffic cycles and reverberant rooms before pressing record.
The audience does not care which camera failed the scene
Viewers may tolerate an imperfect image when the story is strong. Unintelligible speech creates immediate cognitive fatigue. Protect sound with the same seriousness as R3D media.
