Actingwood RED KOMODO Field Lab / Free tools

Plan the workflow before the card fills.

Practical calculators for R3D media, offload pressure, backup storage and multi-format framing. Built around RED’s published KOMODO reference data, with explicit safety margins rather than false precision.

Tool 01 / R3D Media + Workflow Planner

Can your cards, drives and offload cycle actually keep up?

RED’s published KOMODO reference rates at 6K 17:9 around 24 fps are approximately HQ 280 MB/s, MQ 175 MB/s and LQ 110 MB/s. Actual R3D data rate varies with scene complexity and capture settings.

Interpretation

At the entered sustained copy speed, one full-card offload is faster than the estimated time to fill the card. You still need time for verification, card handling and concurrent shooting, so keep practical margin.

Tool 02 / Frame + Crop Planner

See what a delivery crop actually removes.

This calculates the largest centered crop that fits the target aspect ratio. It is a geometry guide, not a substitute for composition or on-set frame guides.

Centered crop1822 × 3240
Source pixel area retained29.7%
Crop from each side2,161 px
Crop from top / bottom0 px
Field note

A technically valid 9:16 crop can still destroy a two-shot, eyeline or movement path. Treat this number as a warning about geometry. Design secondary framing on set when the vertical version matters commercially.
