RF mount on KOMODO: build a lens strategy, not an adapter collection
The mount gives flexibility. The production still needs a deliberate optical and mechanical plan.
What the mount enables
KOMODO uses an RF mount with electronic communication and can support adapted lens ecosystems through compatible adapters. That flexibility is valuable, but every adapter/lens combination should be treated as part of the camera build rather than a last-minute accessory.
Pre-shoot checks
- Mechanical lock and play.
- Electronic iris / focus behaviour if relied upon.
- Image coverage for the chosen sensor format.
- Focus-scale accuracy if pulling focus manually.
- Lens support for heavier glass.
- Matte box / filter clearance.
- Back-focus or flange-related checks where the adapter system requires them.
Build a visual grammar
The more important decision is what the lenses do to the story: distance from subject, perspective, depth, flare, contrast, breathing, close-focus behaviour and how consistently the set matches. A “premium lens” that forces the wrong camera position is not premium filmmaking.
